Articles often report or describe biochemical information as well as environmental importance for a specific species. Photographs of species may be included.

Places to Search for Peer-Reviewed Articles

There are many ways to search for articles regarding how to kill microbes such as bacteria.  I recommend starting broadly by using the word antimicrobial or you can be more specific and use bactericidal, virucidal, fungicidal.  If you are investigating a specific method for killing microbes, you may add that keyword to your search.  Here are some examples:

  • bactericidal and hydrogen peroxide
  • bactericidal and UV
  • bactericidal and alcohol
  • bactericidal and antibiotics
  • antimicrobial and soap
  • antimicrobial and sanitizer

You may also want to try the phrases "antimicrobial agents" or "bactericidal action."  These are very broad and can be combined with specific methods (soap, sanitizer, antibiotics, etc.)

A broader search can also start with microbe/bacteria/virus/fungus combined with the word disinfect.  There are many combinations you can try in the below databases.
