Tools for Finding Credible Health Information
- USA.govSearches only federal and state websites. While not perfect, these sites are usually credible. AS TAXPAYERS, WE FUND THIS INFORMATION - AND SINCE GOVERNMENT FUNDING GOES INTO SO MUCH HEALTH RESEARCH, YOU GET A TON OF INFORMATION FREELY AS THERE ARE NOW LAWS THAT PUBLICLY FUNDED RESEARCH MUST BE PUBLICLY AVAILABLE! This information is freely accessible long after you graduate.
- Great Basic Health Information Through MedlinePlusMedlinePlus (http://medlineplus.gov) from the National Library of Medicine offers overviews of health topics and links to numerous additional resources reviewed by the folks at the National Library of Medicine for credibility. You can also find drug information, interactive tutorials, online videos, and a lot more. This is a great resource for healthcare professionals to recommend to their patients and to use themselves.
- World Health Organization for International Health InformationWHO (http://www.who.int/en) provides global overviews of health topics, international health statistics, and a whole lot more!
