Hi everyone,

Before class on Friday the 29th, we need you to do a couple of things!

First, read these two articles about data and design (they're quick reads, we promise, though some of the language that they use to describe poor design or data visualization is objectionable).  These articles are:

Next, we want you to take a look at the below infographic.  You can right click on it to open it in a new tab so that it is easier to see and read.  We have also provided a link to a PDF version of the infographic.  We are asking you to perform a quick evaluation on this infographic before class on Friday, 10/29.  The questions are:

  1. What are two things you found effective about the data visualizations in this infographic?

  3. What are two things you found effective about the visual design of this infographic?
  4. What are two things you found ineffective about the visual design of this infographic?
