Art 104: Intro to Visual Arts

Start here for help with research for your project

Looking for Images on the Web

Below are some starting points for finding images. Beyond what is listed are hundreds of museums, archives, and libraries that offer access to their works online. I recommend starting with ArtStor and then trying the open web.

If you have any problems or questions contact the librarian for help.

The Artstor database is a collection of more than 2 million images that document artistic traditions across many cultures and time periods: architecture, sculpture, photography, design as well as other forms of visual culture. Access is provided through the library's subscription to Artstor.

Museum Collections

This is a selection of sites for museum collections to get you started. If there is a particular museum or collection you are interested try searching the web for their official site to find images.
