Welcome to the Text Sets Research guide. This guide provides you with the most useful databases and resources for creating text sets to support the North Carolina Essential Standards and the Common Core State Standards.  Use the tabs above to navigate the pages of this guide. 

  • Find Texts - Use the very best databases to locate a range of texts by topic including articles from newspapers and magazines, multimedia, primary sources, and more; as well as children's literature across genres. Many databases allow searching by Lexile reading level
  • Learn about Text Quality and Complexity - The Common Core State Standards represent a staircase of complexity K-12, both in complexity of standards and texts
