Through Hunter Library's participation in the MDPI Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP), researchers at WCU can receive an automatic 10% reduction in article processing charges (APCs) when publishing open access in any MDPI journal. Authors are responsible for covering all APCs after discount.

When a paper is submitted, it is automatically matched to an IOAP participant based on the email address. Authors are asked to confirm the choice, or select an institution if none was found. MDPI staff verify each selection as part of the initial screening of submitted papers.
