  1. Overall, what did you think of the essay?  Did it do what you asked it to do?
  2. What do you think the generative AI tool did well in the essay?
  3. What do you think the generative AI tool did not do well in the essay?
  4. Did you find mistakes or errors?  If so, what were they?
  5. Did the output provide data as requested and did you find the germane to the topic?
  6. Do you think that the generative AI tool had permission to re-use any of the data and did it cite the data source?
  7. What is your final rating of the essay?  The tool?

Discussion Time!

Let's talk about AI and everyone's understanding of it.

  • Do you know where the data or information comes from that populates generative AI?
  • Let's say you are a scientist who just had a major breakthrough analyzing data you have collected over a 5-year period.  Would you upload it to ChatGPT if it meant you didn't have exclusive ownership rights to it?  Do you think it matters who owns data or who has rights to re-use it?
  • What if the data was personal data, like demographic or health data?
  • What do you all think is the main current limitation of generative AI?
  • What do you view as the ethical implications of using generative AI, especially with data?
  • Do you think you are generally aware of when you are using generative AI when you are on the web or in apps?
  • What do you perceive some of the costs are of generative AI?  Do you think those costs make generative AI worth it?
