Sewing Supplies

The library maintains a set of supplies for use with the sewing machines. They are located in a black tool chest near the sewing machines. You will need to check out the key to the tool chest from the circulation desk.

Cutting Tools

Shears - Fabric scissors (8") for left and right-handed users
Snips - small scissors for cutting threads
Self-healing mat (24"x36")

Measuring Tools

Tape measures - flexible
Clear rulers
Sewing gauges

Sewing Tools

Seam rippers
Sewing pins w/ magnetic pin holder
Needle threaders
Hand sewing needles
Assortment of tools for threading drawstrings or elastic
All-purpose thread (white, black, navy, light grey, purple, and golden yellow)
Thimbles/needle pullers
Plastic clips (alternative option to pins)
Assortment of marking tools, including tailors' chalk, fabric pencils, and fabric markers

Ironing or Pressing Tools

Seam rollers
Iron - mini heat press
Wool pressing mat
