Writing, Rhetoric, and Critical Studies (English 101 & 202): Choose a topic

Topic Choice

Choosing a topic for a research paper or project can be daunting, especially when any reasonable topic within the scope of a course will do. Here are a few helpful resources....

What interests you?

Consider topics that:

  • Relate to your major/minor
  • Address a social issue you are passionate about
  • Are tied to your personal history or life experience.

Example: A future teacher might be interested in the debate about the relationship between teacher evaluations and student test scores.
