Curriculum Materials Center
The Curriculum Materials Center is a section of Hunter Library dedicated to supporting teacher education students for their field experiences, children’s and adolescent literature, and teaching methodology coursework. The CMC collections include instructional materials, professional teaching resources, NC state-adopted textbooks, big books, and children's and young adult literature.
Please contact Beth McDonough, Reference Librarian/Education Liaison, 227-3423, for consultation, class projects, lesson planning, or tours of the CMC. If you have questions about services or the collection, call 227-7044.
Use this search box to quickly search for children's literature, professional teaching books, and curriculum materials from the WCU Curriculum Materials Center and the ASU Instructional Materials Center.
The CMC is composed of several collections:
Novelist K-8 is a great tool to locate books for use with children in grades K-8. Books are searchable by author, title, series name, Lexile level (reading level), and plot (including character, topic, time period, and setting). Searches will retrieve descriptions, book reviews, discussion guides, and feature articles related to books of interest. It includes lists of award-winning fiction, book lists arranged by genre and subgenre, feature articles, thematic units, teacher resources, and more.
The following is a new list of North Carolina Adopted Textbooks.
Die cut machines are available in the Curriculum Materials Center. Normal hours for the die cut room are 7:30-5:00, Monday-Friday. If you need access outside of those hours, ask at the Circulation Desk on the main floor. Anyone is welcome to use the die cut machines, but must bring their own paper.
