Safe storage of your data during your research is critical. Follow the 3-2-1 rule: store 3 copies of your data on 2 different devices, with at least 1 copy in a different geographic location.
You'll need to know the level of data sensitivity for your project to determine where you can store your working data and how you can transmit it. Refer to the Data Handling Procedures Related to the Data Security and Stewardship Policy document, developed in accordance with Western Carolina University Policy 97: Data Security and Stewardship, for the most up to date information.
To get assistance managing data and storage during your project, request an IT project.
