News sources - particularly local but also national - are invaluable for finding information about regional impacts such as school closures and extended economic impacts (think business closures, road closures) and for first-hand accounts of disasters. The News guide linked below contains links to various news media sources. In addition to using the sources linked on the guide, think about what local news sources you might turn to for your specific hazard that are not captured on the guide. This may include local public radio stations and local television stations.
Because hazards affect so many facets of society, there is a broad range of disciplines that may feature hazard-related literature. These articles are highly focused, so be more specific with the search terms you use. Typically 2-5 search terms is a good starting point. Peer-reviewed or scholarly articles can be useful for: analysis of recovery efforts, mitigation strategies, long-term impacts, lessons learned
