Maps & Atlases at Hunter Library

Aerial Photographs

Hunter Library's map collection contains a number of aerial photographs of North Carolina from the 1960s and 1970s.  The photographs primarily include the North Carolina coast and parts of Jackson and Haywood counties in western North Carolina.  Hunter Library also has some plat maps available in print of Haywood county and our digital maps collection contains other plat-like maps.  All plat and aerial maps are currently available to view by appointment only M-F from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Glass Plate Aerial Photographs

Hunter Library has a small collection of glass plate aerial photographs centered in Maggie Valley within Haywood county, NC.  These can be viewed more clearly by using our light table in the scholar studio.

Plat Maps

Hunter Library has acquired plat maps from several sources, the most recent include Haywood county.  Most of our plat maps are not cataloged; inquiries about holdings can be made to the maps librarian.
