Access Hunter Library's Print and Digital Book Sources

Hunter Library can provide you with access to our print collection, even if you are taking classes at a different instructional site or online. If you live in Jackson or Buncombe Counties, you may pick up materials at Hunter Library at WCU or Ramsey Library at the University of North Carolina – Asheville (UNCA). Other options for requesting print materials include ABC Express and interlibrary loan. If you need an item mailed to your home, please see instructions in the Using the Library Catalog box below.

Step One: Search the Library Catalog

Library Catalog Keyword Search

The drop-down box that says Western Carolina University can be expanded to WNCLN (ASU, UNCA, & WCU); this searches our entire library network. Any print materials can be delivered to you; we cannot borrow other university's e-books or online resources.

If you cannot find the title you are looking for at ASU, UNCA, or WCU, skip to Step 2.

Step Two: Request the Book

If you found the item in the Library Catalog:

  • Verify that the Status box shows "NOT CHK'D OUT."
  • Click on the “Request” link. Enter either your campus email username and password OR your name and student ID number. Then select a pickup location. Click Submit.
  • If you cannot get to WCU, UNCA, or ASU, choose WCU Distance Learning as your pickup location.  If you take classes at Biltmore Park, choose WCU Biltmore Park Home Delivery as your pickup locations. The item will be mailed to your home address at no charge to you
  • Otherwise, all materials can be picked up at the library you specified as a pickup location. You will need to present a student identification card.

If you did not find what you needed in the Library Catalog, you can request the item through Interlibrary Loan.
