Research Support for Faculty

Finding a venue

When choosing a publication or presentation venue, ask your department head and consult your departmental collegial review document for departmental scholarship expectations. If you need help identifying potential venues, the following resources may be useful.

Library subject specialists

Your subject librarian can help identify journals and conferences in your discipline and locate information about where journals are indexed, which is an important factor when considering how your work will be found by other scholars. They can also help evaluate open access publication venues.

Informational resources

Get Published! is designed as a step-by-step, task-based guide through the scholarly publishing process and includes helpful guidance on publishing open access, negotiating author rights, and avoiding predatory publishers. In this guide you will find informational content, links to resources, and factors to consider. Great for both faculty new to publishing and those needing a refresher.

If you are interested in publishing open access, Open Access Publishing Support contains information about Hunter Library's current agreements with publishers to reduce or offset article processing charges for authors.
